IOWA CAUCUS: Well, well, well. The results are in, the Iowans have spoken, and the rest is, as they say, history. Barack Hussein Obama, proud son of an atheist and a Muslim, crushed Hillary Rodham Clinton in the first head to head battle of the 2008 election season. On the Republican side, Governor Huckabee earned a convincing victory of Governor Romney, as Thompson, McCain, and Paul finished relatively close to one another. What does all of this mean? What do the results of the Iowa Caucus mean? Obviously, we will not know what the ramifications of the tonight's results are until November, but allow me to make a few observations. First of all, Iowans gave an overwhelming boot in the behind to Senator Hillary. Hillary has, by far, the largest name recognition. That being said, Senator Hillary also has the highest negative opinion ratings of any Presidential hopeful ever. Hillary and her political machine will soon begin to down play the effects of her third place finish, but the Democrat party in Iowa handed Hillary a clear and convincing defeat. I think it will be very interesting to see how Iowans vote in November IF Hilary is the Democrat nominee.v
Surprisingly, John Edwards came in second place. He reminds me a lot of someone who is trying to be a young William Jefferson Clinton. What does America love more than a greedy, lying, hypocritical trial lawyer? Yes, John Edwards, and his $400 haircut, has about as much Southern Charm as a snake oil salesman. Yes, John Edwards has the backbone of a jellyfish. Yes, John Edwards yields the strength and leadership of my 12 year beagle, Happy. Waiting for the "But he is...?" That is not going to happen; I am simply stating some of John Edwards' greatest attributes and virtues. Back to the GOP- I do not think that a Huckabee win in Iowa guarantees him the Republican nominee, but it surely does not hurt. I have been a fan of Huck for years, although I have always seen him as more of a VP choice, as opposed to a Presidential nominee. That being said, America loves a smart, down to earth, grounded, God fearing President, and if he is the GOP nominee, I am confident that he will have a great chance of defeating the Evil Left, in November. Governor Romney finished a disappointingly distant second place in Iowa. With all do respect to Governor Romney, who I will support 100% if he is the nominee, the 800 pound elephant in the room will not go away. I have said it once, I will say it now, and I am sure that I will say it again. America has only elected one Catholic as President in the history of the United States. I fear that Middle America will not embrace a Mormon, no matter how great of a leader he is. I know that Glenn Beck has spent a lot of time defending Romney, and criticizing Huck (and anyone else who dares question what Mormons believe in), but the 800 pound elephant in the room remains nonetheless. As a side note, we at XEKE.com are huge fans of Glenn Beck, and we respect his opinion, commentary, and consider Glenn to be a true friend. Rudy decided not to campaign in Iowa, he is not polling very well in New Hampshire or South Carolina, and he is spending a lot of time in Florida. I still believe that Rudy is the most elect-able candidate on either side, but I hope that his decision to sit out the first few primaries does not backfire. Rudy is a principled man, who is strong on national defense, and has vowed to nominate pro-life Supreme Court Justices- what more can a Conservative ask for? In summary, the three leading Dems still have their obviously fatal flaws that will lead to the GOP victory in November. We still have over a month until Super Tuesday, and a lot of time and money will be spent on both sides to deliver their message to the masses. One thing will remain clear. America respects and welcomes Conservative values and morals, and America sees through the lies, deceit, and hypocrisy of Liberal Left. zm 1/4/2008 |
