BLOODSHED IN BLACKSBURG:
The Virginia Tech Massacre

First of all, our thoughts and prayers go out to the families and friends of all of the victims of the Bloodshed in Blacksburg. As you already know, more than 30 Virginia Tech students and faculty were killed Monday morning in Blacksburg, Virginia. The shooter was a scorned Chinese man, here in the United States on a student visa issued last year. He was rumored to have turned the gun on himself, after shooting, injuring, and killing scores of innocent college students. It appears that he planned out this calculating mass murder for quite a while, and was able to outsmart the police and university officials, who seemingly dropped the ball in what turns out to be the deadliest shooting in U.S. history.

In the coming hours, days, and weeks, the liberal media will use this tragedy as a platform to advance their anti-gun agenda. Anytime a gun is used in a killing, the liberal media shows up and attempts to brainwash their captive audience by distorting the truth in an effort to restrict our Constitutional rights. I must say that I am a card carrying member of the NRA, and I stand by the NRA and the Second Amendment 100%.

Virginia House Bill 1572 was shot down (pun intended) before it even got a chance to reach debate on the floor of the state legislature in January 2006. This bill would have allowed students and employees at universities to carry their firearm on campus if they had the required concealed handgun permit. Ironically, had this bill at least reached the floor of the state assembly for a vote, and had it passed, a Virginia Tech student may have had the legal permit to carry a concealed handgun on campus, and could possibly have prevented, or interrupted the deadliest shooting in U.S. history.

Gun control does not restrict or curb violence. Honest, law abiding citizens are the ones that are penalized with strict gun regulations. If a deranged lunatic wants to go to a campus and shoot up a lecture hall, an unconstitutional restriction on guns will not stop him. Remember, criminals commit crimes. It is that simple. This nut job in Blacksburg did what he did, not because of guns, but because he is a murderer. It would not have made a difference if he used a bomb, arson, or any other means. He wanted to kill his girlfriend and as many people as possible, and he would have done just that no matter what. If HB 1572 had passed, and law abiding citizens were allowed to carry a concealed weapon on campus, maybe this tragedy could have been reduced or eliminated. Maybe if a college student heard the gunshots in the dorm or in the lecture hall, he could have defended the scores of innocent victims from this monster. At the very least, HB 1572 would have given greater opportunity for security and protection. This tragedy should not be the stepping stone for the advancement of a liberal agenda to strip the rights away of law abiding citizens- in this case; two wrongs do not make anything right. Again, we pray for strength for all of the families and friends of the victims of the Bloodshed in Blacksburg.
