Here is a response to The Great Debate. XEKE.com obviously does not agree with the content of this email, but I have said that I will post feedback, so this is how the other side thinks. Feel free to let me know what you think.

Listen, life may well begin at birth, but that doesn't mean that the bunch of cells.. which is honestly what the child is until it is a child.. is anything but a cluster of cells. Do you know that any number of things can cause a person to have a miscarriage? It's ridiculous how many women don't even realize they're pregnant and the baby just gets reabsorbed, just like that. I hate the idea of what somebody FEELS is right constraining the rights of everyone else. No one wants to die; thus, murder laws protect everyone. Before a certain point in gestation, fetuses are not "somebody," they are masses of cells. During that time, when Life is just potential and uncertainty, I believe abortions are not the heinous slaughter you credit them to be. You are terribly short-sighted. Look:

"I feel that life begins at conception. Science proves that life begins at conception. Christian religions teach that life begins at conception. Many other religions state that life begins at conception. Common sense says that life begins at conception. Basically, life begins at conception. This seems like a no-brainer.

Um.. you just said: "I think this. Science says this, and thus what I think is true. Religion says this. Thus, I am right, because me and a bunch of other people think this should be." (By the way, LIFE and Sentience are not the same thing. Is a cockroach Life? Yes. Is a Raccoon? Yes. Is a clump of diploid cells? Yes.. and so what?) "So because of that, I will constrain something that hurts nobody except you, the person constrained." (The 'child' is not a child until it is a fetus, with human limbs and organs and a brain, etc. What we SHOULD do is monitor fertility a hell of a lot better, and control it, thus preventing unwanted pregnancy, not force people to suddenly take on a great burden for a (very) simple mistake they've made. You can ruin their life and their child's life, or you can make it so that the child doesn't get F!@$ED and the mother doesn't get saddled with a 20-year parasite.
